September 15, 2009
Apple continues to market the iPhone to expand in China in large numbers. Just two weeks ago after the iPhone distribution agreements with China Unicom, Apple is currently discussing a similar partnership with another operator called China Mobile.
Director of China Mobile Wang Jianzhou has confirmed publicly that it was now the intense discussions with Apple about iPhone marketing. But the distribution in China unlike in some countries like the U.S., where the operator holds exclusive rights to market the Apple handset. That is why, the agreement reached with China Unicom also is non exclusive.
This allows Apple free to negotiate with any service they want. Such information is quoted from CNet, Tuesday (15/9/2009).
China Mobile which is the number one operator in China has recorded approximately 141 million subscribers. The number is three times more than the number of China Unicom subscribers who become rivals.
The analysts estimate, with the market the iPhone to the middle of China Mobile customers will benefit Apple, both in the economic field as well as mastery of shares in China’s handset industry.
To support it, Apple needs to make some changes to the iPhone that could operate on the wireless platform of TD-SCDMA China Mobile. Or if not, Apple’s only choice to give up their current handsets can only operate on 2G platforms with lower performance.
