Youve taken the plunge and bought your first iPhone. So what do you do next?

First of all, congratulations! Apple has sold millions of iPhones in record time and there’s a reason for it. Not only do you have the convenience of a first class portable multimedia device (it plays not only music, but movies and photo slideshows as well), but you also have a cell phone, Internet browser, video game system, camera and a camcorder too. All in one little metal and glass package that fits in the palm of your hand. That’s also a sizable investment you’re holding there, considering you had to pay hundreds of dollars upfront and lock in to a long term cellular contract, so you want to make sure you look at the various iphone 3g cases that are available; to protect that investment. The cost of a decent case is inexpensive, especially when you weigh it against the value of the electronics it’s protecting.
Actually, it’s a bit of a shame that the iPhone needs an accessory to save it from drops, scratches, dust and the like. The device is so cleverly engineered and beautifully designed that strapping a bulking plastic case around it seems almost criminal. True, you can get these in some pretty funky designs, but they still pretty much wreck the look.
If you’re not prone to throwing your iPhone around, there is another option known as an iphone skin. This is product is much what it sounds like: an ultra thin, clear plastic film that adheres to the iPhone. It doesn’t detract at all from the iPhone’s visual appeal or interfere with any functions or ports like some of the bigger protectors might, but it does offer comprehensive protection from scratches, dust and dirt. It also makes it easier to grip your iPhone, making it less likely that you’ll drop it in the first place. You can easily remove iphone skins and you’ll find the case and glass screen in pristine condition underneath.
So there you have it. You’ve got your iPhone, now protect it then start having fun.
